Camp Zama Youth Sports and Fitness continues to add at least one bi-lateral event for most sports. Bi–Lateral events are American teams versus teams from the local Japanese community. The bi-lateral event games go far beyond the actual competition and allow interaction between the communities both at the youth and adult level. These events are fun, educational and help bolster relations between the host nation (Japan) and the Camp Zama community.
Youth Sports and Fitness has implemented fitness curriculums (Hip to be Fit) at the Sagamihara and Zama Child Development Centers (CDCs) and Sagamihara School Ages Service (SAS) Center. The Start Smart Program is being implemented at the CDC's and SAS.. This program is open to children enrolled in these centers.
